Sometimes it’s the small things in life — a piping hot cup of coffee, a smile or a simple piece of chocolate. One should really pay attention to the things that make you smile and feel at peace. Those are the things to be grateful for. Gratitude is the quality of being thankful and the willingness to show appreciation for goodness. Gratitude expands your happiness and can transform your way of thinking. Once you are able to recognize and embrace your feelings of gratitude, you will become aware of the feeling more often.
Being grateful then creates the need to return kindness and joy back into the world. Gratitude can boost your positivity and optimism which can lead to a multitude of benefits. You may find yourself performing better at work or smiling and laughing more often. Today, as I write this, I can’t help but smile and feel gratitude for the people we serve, our staff and our gracious community. This feeling is overwhelming to me as I come away from large events like our Annual Appreciation Picnic and move towards our 2nd Annual 5k Run, Walk & Roll event. My gratitude leaves me with a smile and a positive feeling about life and humanity. A big thank you to each of you — including the people we serve, staff and our community.
